Most beds are designed for one or two people. When you’re poly, sometimes there are more than a few lovers who want to sleep in the same bed! It can be an uncomfortable scenario for first time poly players, so here are some tips to make your beauty slumber after group sex work the best for you.
You will need a big bed. It’s as simple as that. A full-sized mattress is not going to cut it. The minimum space needed for a threesome sleeping arrangement is a queen, and king mattresses or California kings are even better. Some people have custom beds that are circular shaped or another fun variation to make room for all of their lovers. If you’re stuck with a full-sized bed, you can always stick a twin cot that is at the same height as the bed next to it so the three of you can be close.
Change it up! If you’ve got a king or California king, there might be more space on the bed if you all sleep sideways instead of the traditional top to bottom way.

Get extra blankets. Poly lovers enjoy tossing and turning after a good group sex romp and if you thought blanket sharing between two people was rough, try it with three! Extra blankets for a polyamorous sleepover are a must.
The person sleeping in the middle will get hot. “If you’re in the middle it’s just a fact, you will get overheated,” laughs John Ramos, who is in a triad and is a content coordinator at Polyamory Date. “Try sleeping on your back to expose the core of your body to the cool night air.” You can also switch in the middle of the night with one of your poly lovers so you don’t have to sweat for the whole night.
Have an alternative sleep space prepared. For those who are not used to sleeping 3 or 4 in a bed, it can be a bit overwhelming. To avoid acute insomnia, have another space prepared in case someone can’t sleep. That way all they have to do is hop out of bed and into their own comfy spot.
