Polyamory in a Pandemic: How Are You Dealing?

We’re almost a year into this crazy, life-altering thing called the Pandemic. How are you, and your polycule, holding up?

The Effect of the Pandemic on Poly Relationships

There’s been a lot of discussion about how our current situation affects single people, and monogamous couples who don’t live together, but I’ve heard very little about the impact it’s having on the poly community.

I consider myself lucky. I have a small, tight-knit polycule that made living together a natural choice. I moved in with my partner and his wife for a few months last spring, then again, this fall when the covid numbers started climbing.

We’ve figured out our routine, and what each of us needs to make things work. Every day I’m thankful that none of us are excluded from the fold.

That said, I know that not every polycule is in a position to shack up together when the going gets tough.

Maybe you’re in a don’t-ask-don’t-tell kind of situation and can’t stomach the thought of even meeting each other’s other partners let alone living under the same roof. Perhaps you’re in long-distance relationship that’s suffering as a result of travel restrictions.

If you aren’t able to be with the one(s) you love, consider the tips in our article How to Keep a Connection Strong (when You Can’t Be Together).

Whatever you’re going through, I want to offer you my caring and support. These are tough times in the polyverse, but you’re not alone.
