Not every kink is easy to bring up to a new lover, but bondage seems to always pass the test. When I first mention bondage, I do so in a playful teasing way just to gauge a reaction. …as someone who prefers to be tied up, I always have restraints on hand. Those who love bondage have preferences. I like a variety that will suit my mood or the type of role play I’m engaging in. Here are my top 5 bondage restraints that make the cut!
1. Handcuffs. I was lucky to find a heavy-duty pair long before I ever tried bondage. A friend who had them as part of a Halloween costume way back when, gave them to me. They are heavy metal and come with two keys. You never want to lose the keys! I like the sound of the metal cuffs. These are used if I’m ever playing a scenario that involves a police officer… very sexy.
2. Silk Scarves or Ties. I have a whole box of these, and they feel and look fantastic. I use these when I’m feeling more romantic or when I want to be tied up and given an erotic massage or engage in sensory play.
3. Cables. Most people have cables from old computers etc. These give you and your partner a bit more of a hardcore feel. They’re great for tying wrists and ankles to bedposts or even around your midsection, as some are very long. The only drawback is that with movement or struggle, there can be chaffing, and most people don’t want their co-workers to know what they were up to the night before!
4. Rope. I like rope because it gives a prisoner type of feeling to being tied up – that you’re at your lover’s mercy. Most people don’t have suitable rope, but it’s easy to find different types either at a local sex shop or online. You’ll find ropes of different materials, colours, and lengths to suit your needs.
5. Bondage Tape. This was a recent discovery that I can’t recommend enough. I was browsing my go-to sex store and saw stacks and stacks of tape in every colour of the rainbow. I took home purple tape and put it right into action. This tape comes in rolls that can be cut to your desired length. It sticks to itself and can be used over, about three more times.
